About Ready for Paint

The house is coming along well, and we're about ready for paint. Things have slowed down a bit due to the cold weather and the fact we don't have heat in the house yet. Without heat, the drywall mud isn't drying very quickly. Although they have propane tanks heating the house, it's still taking time to dry it out. These are the pictures I took earlier in the week and not a whole lot has changed since these.

Basement Drywall Complete

Well, just like the drywallers promised, the basement was completed today. Although, when I went out to take pictures, my camera battery was dead, so I had to settle for the iPhone. Not the greatest pictures, but pictures all the same.

Drywall!

The drywallers started on Saturday and moved amazingly fast! We went out there a few times yesterday and tried to stay out of their way. I needed to measure my windows for treatments so I decided to head back out there today before shopping and much to my surprise, they were there again! The main level is nearly completed, and they said they would be done hanging drywall by tomorrow afternoon (main level and basement). Almost every picture below captures the drywall dust that was flying throughout the air in the house.

Doors and more

In the past few days, the screened porch framing has been completed, electrical is done, water is on, front door and service entry door installed, and today, the garage doors went on. Waiting on insulation to be installed, electrical inspection, then the drywall will begin. I guess we better be deciding on paint pretty quickly!

Siding & Electrical coming along

Since the time change, it's difficult to get out to the house for new pictures before the sun goes down. Yesterday, Sherman was off work so he took plenty of pictures of what's happening at the house. There is a lot going on and it's moving extremely fast. Siding has started, the plumbing is mostly done, and the electrical is well on it's way.

The front and back porch were poured yesterday as well.

Next week will prove to be just as busy as the electrical is finished, insulation is installed, and drywall begins. Busy, busy, busy!



Windows and Roof - check!

We now have shingles on the roof and the windows are installed! It turns out I really like the color of the roof we picked out - I was afraid I wouldn't. Tomorrow we meet with the electrician to go over our final electrical plan before they begin next week.

Lots going on!

There's been a lot going on at the house in the past few days - Roof shingles are going on, plumbing is going in, HVAC is almost complete, and the windows have arrived. Sherman spent the weekend wiring for surround sound in the basement and running cable for the satellite throughout the house. We should be starting the electrical sometime next week.

It's hard to believe we just broke ground 5 weeks ago. These guys are amazing!

Ready for Shingles

The roof is ready for shingles. This and the windows should be happening soon. I also took pictures of the inside and will put captions as to what you're looking at below the picture.
